Baseball Card Exchange is recognized as the industry leader in unopened vintage sports cards and one of the most respected and trusted authenticators of unopened wax product. Baseball Card Exchange was built on vintage cards and unopened vintage wax material. However, they have expanded their interests and are now quickly becoming one of the leading companies in autograph and sports memorabilia.
A completed 1987 Donruss Baseball set consists of 660 standard-size cards and is one of the brand's stronger releases from both a checklist and a distinguishable design perspective. Cards were primarily distributed in 15-card wax packs, rack packs and a factory set. The regular issue cards feature a black and gold border on the front. A thick brown and yellow stripe runs horizontally through the middle of the card. However, the size of the photo makes it more of an accent. The backs of the cards in the factory sets are oriented differently than cards taken from wax packs, giving the appearance that one version or the other is upside down when sorting from the card backs. There are no premiums or discounts for either version. The popular Diamond King subset returns for the sixth consecutive year followed by 20 Rated Rookies. Some of the Diamond King (1-26) selections are repeats from prior years; Perez-Steele Galleries had indicated in 1987 that a five-year rotation would be maintained in order to avoid depleting the pool of available worthy "kings" on some of the teams. Wax boxes have four cards on the bottom. Collectors could also send away for a set of over-sized Diamond Kings Supers. There are no other inserts.
